Life in the United Kingdom

Liverpool: what is life like in the UK?

Living in Britain is the best way to get to know the British lifestyle and culture. As an LJMU student, you will be located in the world-famous city of Liverpool. It is creative, full of life, and has a heritage that is worth exploring. This makes it the ideal place to gain a degree that will prepare you for a successful future.

Liverpool is convenient and compact, which makes it easy to get around, both on foot and by public transport. It is also very well connected to the rest of the UK and Europe via its international airport and extensive rail and road links.

You can watch teams like Liverpool Football Club and Everton Football Club play football at Anfield Stadium or Goodison Park. Visit The Beatles Story museum or take a walk down to the historic Albert Dock. Explore the collections at the Tate Liverpool art gallery and even plan a weekend trip to a European city, such as Paris, Rome or Madrid.

Travel to and from the UK

Liverpool John Lennon Airport offers flights to European and other UK destinations, where you can connect with worldwide destinations.

You can also travel to Paris, Brussels and beyond from St Pancras International rail station in London. Train journeys from Liverpool Lime Street to St Pancras are around two and a half hours.

Travelling locally

Liverpool has frequent, inexpensive buses operated by Merseytravel. This makes it easy to travel around the city and to local towns. You can travel to Manchester by bus in only one hour and five minutes. Liverpool also has an underground rail service and many taxis.
