Career-focused teaching for work-ready graduates

Get ready for your career

A degree from Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) makes you better prepared for the working world.

Award-winning university career skills programme

LJMU is the only UK university to provide employability as a compulsory subject. Its award-winning World of Work programme includes Graduate Skills, Work Related Learning and World of Work Skills. Helpful faculty staff and the World of Work Careers Centre will guide you through each phase.

The programme is integrated into your degree programme, so it doesn’t take up any extra time. But it does make you stand out from the crowd in the graduate job market.

The World of Work Skills Certificate is unique to LJMU. Endorsed by a wide variety of employers, it is a great chance to practice applying for jobs. This award-winning programme helps you bridge the gap between studying and employment. It helps you achieve the bright future you want.

  • 93% of students are in work or further study 6 months after they graduate (Destination of Leavers from Higher Education 2014/2015).

Career preparation that starts during your pathway

During your degree pathway at the International Study Centre, the CareerAhead programme provides a solid foundation to the University’s World of Work programme. You will receive guidance to help you make the right choices. We will help you to use your time at LJMU to increase your chances of success in the global job market.

You will get the opportunity to develop key skills that transfer to the working world, such as:

  • Leadership and organisation
  • CV and personal statement writing
  • Presentation and interview.

This will make you a confident, expert and employable graduate.
