Mohamed, from Egypt, studied the International Foundation Year in Engineering, Computing and Life Sciences at the International Study Centre - and he is passionate about football.
“It was the best day of my life”
As a Liverpool Football Club fan, Mohamed had a dream come true.. In May, SFR Sport, a French television company, contacted the Egyptian Society at LJMU and invited him to watch a game at Anfield stadium and visit the Players Zone, where he could meet some of the players after the match – including his football hero and fellow countryman, Mo Salah.
Mohamed said: “It was the best day of my life. When I entered Anfield for the first time, it felt like I was dreaming, everyone was singing for Mo Salah. I was then led to the Players Zone and I saw all the players and Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp. When I finally met Mo, he said that he would probably see me again, sooner or later, as we both lived in Liverpool.”
Meeting Mo Salah has been a lifelong dream for Mohamed: “I used to watch Mo and the other players at Anfield on TV, wondering if I would ever have chance to meet them. Now I am back in Egypt for the summer and everyone is treating me like a celebrity because I had a photo with Mo!”
Home to two famous football clubs, Liverpool attracts many international students. Mohamed recently completed his pathway programme and plans to progress to study MPharm (Hons) Pharmacy at LJMU.
